Show me your friend

Ayo Ayesimoju(india) Do you remember the age-long adage: “Show me your friend and I will tell you who you are”? It is a very simple but true law of personal development, it is called the Law of Association. Have you consciously looked around you to evaluate your choice of friends, how you met them and what has kept the friendship for its duration?  Really, you should take a close look at that. Jim Rohn, a best-selling author once said, “you are an average of the five people you spend your most time with”. Somehow, we pick some attitudes from people we stay around and that’s how we are seen. Mike Murdock says “pay any price to be with extra-ordinary people”, that way you too will do extra-ordinary things. Friendship may be accidental but purpose should be brought into it. If you have the opportunity of meeting someone who’s more experienced than you are in your chosen profession, it is not the time to become envious or boastful, rather, take it as the time to learn from his or her experiences. On the other hand if you meet someone who is not as experienced, o not withhold your knowledge. True friendships are measured by impacts. If you cannot impact your friends, the world will be too big for you to impact. Be with the right friends who encourage and appreciate you when you have done well; those who give constructive criticism that builds you up, those who learn from you, those you can learn from. Every association is about giving and taking, ensure that you give what is meaningful and take what is of benefit. You should however not be in any friendship solely for what to gain, also look out for what to give, bearing a positive purpose in mind. Do have a wonderful week ahead of you and stay safe!
