JABU AWARDS 2014 WAS A PRIZE TO DIE FOR
Jabu Awards has over the years been Jabu’s biggest social event
that celebrates Jabu students from different angles. The theme for this year is
“celebrating us within our community”. The Jabu awards we are about to witness
this year has been tagged by many Jabuites as “a prize to die for” why?
It’s simply because of the nominee list that was released
which has drawn the attention of many Jabu students to question the judgement
of the organizers. what really baffle us here is the way some student who we
all know as “book worms” and also the ones we call “spirit ko ko’s” are really
showing their interest in the awards.
We have more than 2000 students in Jabu. The Jabu awards
nominees list only have 20 categories in which over 100 students are nominated
for the awards. These years’ awards have really gotten the largest response
from Jabu students especially on twitter #Jabu_awards_2014.
The competition for the awards is high because the
nomination and style the organizers used gives room for anybody to win. We also
want to use this opportunity to correct an impression that TMG influenced the
nomination list. TMG is an independent media outfit and also a business
venture. We only work for the student union in their printing works. If you have any question to ask the student
union about the awards, kindly ping 21AC1B31.
The awards will come and go; please no prize is worth dying
for, although the organizers have promised that Jabu Awards 2014 will be like
the Grammys.
