Exclusive Interview with Badmus Blolaji

LET’S MEET YOU?

 I am Badmus Blolaji, musically known as Bolex, a student of Local Government Studies Obafemi Awolowo University. I am a rapper, a singer also a hip hop artist.

 FAMILY BACKGROUND
 I am from a family of four. Father and mother of course (LOL) and two children, I and my younger brother.

 HOW AND WHEN DID YOU START DOING MUSIC?
 I started music formally in 2012, I recorded also in 2012 and since then I have been consistent.

 WHO INSPIRED YOU?

 Foreign artists like Drake and amongst others. I also look up to some Nigerian artists but I don’t have a mentor but I know what I want and am ready.

 WHAT YOUR TYPE OF MUSIC?
 Am quite versatile but I major in rap. I can also sing and do a whole of lot of things.

 HAVE YOU WON ANY AWARD SO FAR?
 Not really; but I was among O.A.U MTN rap challenge invasion finalists and also a nominee of Anuca Awards and I pray I win.

 WHICH NIGERIAN ARTIST DO YOU LOOK UP TO?
 I don’t really have an artist I look up to in Nigeria but I like the work rate, the success of Olamide, and I do hope to go above that level.

 WHAT’S YOUR VIEW ON THE NIGERIAN MUSIC INDUSTRY?
 It’s quite challenging; we have a lot of upcoming artists and it’s not all about merit but by the grace of God. I believe if you are really good at what you do and you pursue it and take it as something important, help will surely come and you will have to wait for your time.
